Meet Tamara Colby!

Tamara Colby is a life coach, mentor, devoted wife, mother, and grandmother whose greatest passion is helping others find healing, hope, purpose, and lasting joy.

For more than 20 years, Tamara has worked as a hairstylist, but her chair has become much more than a place for haircuts and color. It has been a place where people share their hearts, struggles, hopes, and stories. Through countless conversations and years of walking alongside people in many different seasons of life, Tamara developed a deep love for understanding people—what shapes us, what holds us back, and what helps us experience greater joy.

That love for people eventually inspired Allow Joy Life Coaching.

Tamara believes that each of us has inherent worth, a divine purpose, and the capacity to grow, heal, and create a meaningful life. Through coaching, she encourages people to discover their true identity, overcome limiting beliefs, and live with greater purpose, faith, peace, and joy.

Family is at the heart of Tamara’s life. She and her husband, Troy, blended their family 15 years ago, bringing together seven children—Tamara’s three and Troy’s four—who ranged in age from 9 to 19 at the time. Raising a blended family has been one of the greatest blessings and most meaningful experiences of her life. Today, she treasures time with their five grandchildren and is deeply grateful for the family they have built together.

Tamara’s life has also given her a deep understanding of how joy and heartache can exist side by side. She has walked through divorce, the challenges of loving family members who struggled with addiction—including her former husband and one of her children—and the unimaginable grief of losing her 19-year-old son ten years ago.

Those experiences have profoundly shaped her, strengthened her faith, and deepened her compassion for others. They have also taught her something she now carries into her work every day: healing, hope, and joy are possible, even in the midst of life’s greatest trials.

Tamara understands the courage it takes to move forward when life doesn’t look the way you expected it to. She also believes moving forward doesn’t mean ignoring what you’ve been through. It means learning from it, finding meaning within it, and allowing yourself to experience the goodness that is still available to you.

Grounded in her faith and guided by a heart for service, Tamara’s mission is to help others move beyond merely surviving and begin living with greater purpose, peace, resilience, and enduring joy.

Whether she is coaching clients, working behind her chair, spending time with her family, or serving in her church and community, Tamara hopes to leave people feeling a little more seen, a little more hopeful, and a little more willing to allow joy
into their lives.
